La Rochelle

Capital of the Charente-Maritime, La Rochelle is well known for its postcard-pretty Old Port picture. After a walk on the quays, the visitor is invited to go along the beautiful narrow streets of the old town

Poitiers

Poitiers is a classic French provincial city. Capital of the Poitou area of western France, and county-town of the Vienne department, it is a historic city that has conserved much of its old world charm.

Chauvigny

A market town with Castle ruins overlooking the town. There is a birds of prey show here during summer.

Futuroscope

A unique adventure/theme park focusing on multimedia and future themes. With rides like Arthur 4D and the mad Dances with Robots. It’s perfect for kids.

Saintes

Modern-day Saintes is a market and commercial centre for the surrounding district, which is noted for the production of cognac and the cultivation of corn, rape, and sunflowers

La Roche-Posay

A spa town specialising in the treatment of skin diseases, is also a charming town that has preserved numerous remains of its medieval past. Not to be missed: the beautiful gardens of the Parc Thermal are a lovely place for a walk.

Romagne

In total freedom on small wooded islands in a park, 30 species of primates (350 animals) thrive in this conservation centre, which includes chimpanzees and, unique in France, bonobos. Curious and facetious monkeys both small and large will entertain you.

Chenonceau

The most beautiful chateau in the Loire Valley. The river Cher flows under the Chateau.

Villandry

It a privately owned chateau open to the public. The gardens are astonishing and one of France’s National Monuments.

Montmorillon

The little town boasts a charming old centre labelled “Ville d’Art et d’Histoire” (city of art and history)

Angles-sur-l’Anglin

Beautiful village with a ruined castle from the 11th century. Canoeing on the river during summer.
